My Background

I try to ensure that my clients benefit not only from my professional education and training, but also my life experience, which includes marriage, divorce, motherhood, adoption, and blended families. My goal is to give you the opportunity to explore your concerns and challenges in a safe and non-judgmental space, where you have my full attention. I work especially well with women who have trauma histories, women navigating life transitions, and with individuals and couples seeking optimal relationships with each other and with themselves. I also work with parents of children of all ages to help them more effectively communicate, relate to, and parent their children from infancy through the teenage years.

I received my undergraduate degree from St. Edward’s University and the Master of Arts in Counseling from the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest. My post-graduate training has given me useful skills to help anyone dealing with single-incident traumatic events (e.g., car accidents, crime victimization, medical trauma, birth trauma), as well as those with more complex, longer-term trauma and PTSD (e.g., physical and sexual abuse, domestic violence, sexual assault, adoption issues). I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) and have received advanced EMDR training to treat clients with complex trauma and PTSD, as well as early attachment trauma. I have received training in and use the Gottman Method of Couples Therapy as the foundation of my work with couples. With couples, I also use my trainings in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), as well as attachment theory and family systems theory. My training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) allows me to use this therapeutic methodology with clients, both couples and individuals, who want to learn skills to be more mindful and have tools to help regulate emotions.

I am here to accompany you in exploring your unique personal and relationship challenges, and to work with you to bring happiness, satisfaction, balance and improved relationships back into your life.

Central Texas has been my life-long home and I have called Austin home since 1973. My husband and I have three adult sons, one wonderful daughter-in-law, two precious granddaughters, and one handsome grandson. Our dogs, Kimmie and Colm, round out our family. In my spare time, you will usually find me enjoying time with my family, being "Mimi" to my three grandchildren, reading, hiking, enjoying the Rocky Mountains in Estes Park, Colorado, or getting creative with knitting needles and yarn.
